The Importance of Quinn Financial Planning’s due diligence procedures.

The Importance of Quinn Financial Planning’s due diligence procedures.
  1. What’s happened recently
Some superannuation and investment funds, like Shield and First Guardian, have collapsed.
Thousands of investors lost a large part (sometimes all) of their money. Many of those investments
were accessed through well-known platforms and super menus — but being “on the shelf” didn’t
protect them. We are very pleased to advise that, due to our extensive due diligence processes and procedures, no client was exposed to these failed investments.
  2. What platforms actually do
📍Think of a platform like a supermarket: it offers a wide range of products.
📍Just because something is on the shelf doesn’t mean it’s healthy or right for you.
📍Platforms provide administration, tax reporting, and convenience.
    📍They don’t guarantee investment safety.
  3. Why risks still exist
📍Some funds invest in illiquid or hard-to-value assets (like property or private loans).
📍If managers exaggerate performance, or if governance is weak, the product can collapse.
📍Regulators and courts are still investigating trustee and platform responsibilities.
  4. How we protect you
📍We apply our own independent research and due diligence — not just platform listing.
📍We look at what assets are really held, who holds them, how they’re valued, and whether you can
    get your money back.
📍We check whether returns are realistic and sustainable. Is the return on investment realistic and
    future earnings growth sustainable.
📍We review the liquidity of the investment
📍We analyse the solvency of the investment.
📍If a product doesn’t pass our checks, we won’t recommend it.
  5. What you can do
📍Ask questions: What does this fund own? How liquid is it? Who holds the assets?
📍Don’t assume platform availability = safety.
📍Rely on our advice process — it’s designed to filter out unsuitable, opaque, or high-risk funds.
📍Our promise: We put your interests first and avoid products that don’t meet strict standards, no
    matter how they’re marketed.
